As we continue to create and adopt new and innovative technology tools, newly-proposed federal regulations are expected soon to make it easier for states to support the use of modern technology in the greater child welfare space. This past August, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) proposed new regulations to update SACWIS regulations. The new regulations, called Comprehensive Child Welfare Information Systems (CCWIS), would allow state and tribal agencies more flexibility in adopting 21st century case management systems, equipping them with the quality data needed to make informed decisions about the families and children in their care. We look forward to seeing these rules finalized in the year to come.
